Lai Mohammed Used FG’s Handle To Tweet On APC Crisis, Got Blasted

Some Nigerians on social media have berated the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, for using the verified Twitter handle of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture to discuss the controversies surrounding the ongoing membership registration of the All Progressives Congress.

The minister had used the official Twitter handle of the federal ministry to state his position on the party’s registration on Monday.

In a thread, the minister demanded that the party’s registration should be cancelled in Kwara State, where he hails from.

The PUNCH had reported that there is a leadership crisis in Kwara APC, with Lai Mohammad leading one of the factions against the governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Reacting to the tweet, some Nigerians accused Lai Mohammed of ridiculing the country, asking that he should be punished by the President, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (retd.).

They lamented that the information on the federal ministry’s handle should represent what the country stands for.

“This is embarrassing. Lai Mohammed should be sacked immediately,” one of the Nigerians, @Abu Ayman posted.

Another Nigerian, @henryshield, tweeted, “How do you use the verified handle of a Federal Ministry to discuss the internal wrangling of the APC in Kwara State? What kind of people did we hand over Nigeria to?

“Let me get it right; a verified handle of govt is discussing party registration in Oro? Is the Ministry the media department of APC or a Federal Ministry for Nigeria? Who’s in charge of this country?”

“We entered one chance since 2015, no be today the madness started, them just dey remove clothe now ni,” @Abike90458044 tweeted.

@estudekay regretted that “We were looking for a change, we found it in a hopeless place.”

“What’s the legislative arm of government doing about the excesses of the current administration> I don’t even want to talk about the main opposition party,” Iyk Greens @IykPutin added.

Miyamoto Musashi lambasted the minister, saying, “Jauntily dancing naked in the market square. Flagrant and outright misuse of a federal ministry, converting it to the media arm of a disgruntled faction of a political party. We haven’t seen anything yet.”

Mike Chijioke wrote, “I wonder how we got here, these people lack the foresight to see the situation this country is in now – no light, no good road, no job, no quality education, etc. And somebody is using the official handle of the country to push for local politics.”

@realAyoBarth said, “Why do you seem surprised? The only time I am surprised is when the government does the right thing. This government abuses everything.”

@obunikechineke added, “Have you forgotten the Attorney General of the Federation being used for APC function? Or the State House (Aso Villa) hall being used for APC meeting?

@AbiriJoseph1 demanded that “the person handling the Twitter handle for the ministry should be sacked, this is a disgrace to Nigeria. Turning national agency and ministry official Twitter page to local gist and rival politics in APC.”

@Lotanna04161722 said, “Nothing should surprise you with this APC leaders. People that appointed dead people, what else should surprise you?”
