Kunle Omisore: “If It Stresses Me, I’m Done” — Why Peace of Mind Beats Love

Nollywood actor Kunle Omisore has declared that peace of mind ranks higher than romantic love, stating he would walk away from any relationship that repeatedly brings stress or frustration.

Speaking in a recent interview about relationships, emotional boundaries, and what he values in a partner, Omisore explained that his feelings can fade naturally when a relationship becomes a constant source of emotional pressure.

“If it stresses me, I’m done. If a king came to a feast here, if he’s going to keep stressing me, maa salo,” he said, emphasizing that no one—regardless of status—is worth sacrificing his mental calm.

The actor noted that while he can genuinely love someone, ongoing frustration can cause those feelings to disappear without deliberate effort. “When I say I love you, I love you. If you frustrate me, that thing will switch off unconsciously, so I don’t control it,” Omisore explained. Looking back, he said he might even question how strongly he once felt: “And when it switches off, I will be like, ‘Oh, I really said I love you?’ That means it is switched off.”

In a light-hearted aside, Omisore admitted the only stress he is willing to tolerate is financial. “I don’t just want to be stressed. The only thing that is allowed to stress me is when I don’t have money,” he added.

His candid remarks have resonated amid wider conversations about emotional boundaries and recognizing when a relationship becomes unhealthy. For Omisore, the stance is clear: affection matters, but personal peace remains non-negotiable.
