Imo State Police arrest two women in Owerri attempting to sell a four-year-old boy kidnapped from Abuja for ₦2.7 million; a third suspect is at large
The Imo State Police Command has successfully dismantled a suspected child trafficking ring with the arrest of two women in Owerri.

The suspects, Joy Ugwu and Rosella Michael, were apprehended on April 14th while attempting to sell a four-year-old boy, Jaffa Umar, for ₦2.7 million.

According to the State Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the boy was kidnapped in Abuja while hawking vegetables and subsequently brought to Owerri.
The arrests followed a discreet operation by the Scorpion Unit of the Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with Zone 7 Police Headquarters, Abuja. A third accomplice, believed to be a nurse, is currently on the run.

DSP Okoye stated that the rescued child, who speaks Hausa, has been safely reunited with his family. The arrested suspects have been transferred to the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and urged residents to report any suspicious activity.
