Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has revealed that her forthcoming studio album will reflect her personal evolution into womanhood, both in life and in sound.
Speaking during an appearance on Apple Music Radio Takeover, the 23-year-old artist shared how her creative direction has shifted, with a renewed focus on experimentation and enjoyment.
“I’m literally becoming a woman, and you can hear that in my music now,” she said, noting that her growth is evident in her sound and artistic choices. “I want to try different things, put myself out there, and have fun while doing it.”

The singer admitted that at a point, she became overly serious about her craft, losing some of the joy that initially defined her music.
“I kind of lost the plot a bit and took it too seriously it was never that deep,” she said.

According to her, the upcoming third album marks a turning point one that embraces freedom, creativity, and rediscovered joy. “I brought the fun back, and we’re enjoying ourselves,” she added.
While the album’s title has yet to be officially announced, anticipation continues to build following the release of its lead single, “Where Do We Go,” ahead of its expected drop later this year.
