Gombe SEC Approvals reached a major milestone on Monday with the green light for several transformative projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, education, and youth development across the state.

In its 49th session chaired by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, the Gombe State Executive Council approved a N1.06 billion solar streetlight project spanning 11 kilometres.

Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Nasiru Aliyu, said the initiative awarded to Sigma Electric Ltd will improve night-time security and economic activity.
“This project is a continuation of an effective strategy to extend business hours and reduce crime,” Aliyu noted.

In a bid to fast-track the launch of the new Faculty of Agriculture at Gombe State University, the council allocated 365 hectares of land at Garin Tafida, Yamaltu Deba LGA.
This land will host demonstration farms, enhancing hands-on learning and meeting accreditation standards set by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Gadam, confirmed NUC’s approval to commence student admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
He also revealed plans to acquire more land in Kurugu, Kwami LGA for future expansion.
Additionally, the SEC gave approval for completing Phases I–III of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre in Yamaltu Deba, reflecting the state’s strong commitment to youth empowerment and leadership development.
According to Commissioner for Information, Mijinyawa Tilde, these initiatives are part of the government’s broader mission to equip Gombe’s youth with essential life and vocational skills.
