Cross River Police Command has arrested the fourth suspect in the abduction of former INEC staff, Mrs Caroline Bassey,
It was gathered that police rescued the victim hours after she was kidnapped from her residence in Calabar on Saturday, November 4, 2023 and arrested three of the kidnappers.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, said the fleeing suspect was arrested while hiding in the ceiling of his girlfriend’s house.
“The suspect was unsuspicious that officers of the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad were on his trail until he was apprehended at about 5 a.m.,” the PPRO said.
“He has confessed to being the mastermind of Mrs Bassey’s kidnap. He identified Bassey’s tenant as the person who contracted him and his gang to kidnap the victim,” Ms. Ugbo said.
