Emergency Responders Recover Two Bodies At Lagos Building Collapse Site

Two bodies have reportedly been found in the wreckage of the seven-storey Lagos building collapse, according to a report by The Nation.

On Sunday morning in Lekki, Lagos, the structure fell.

Rescue efforts are still being conducted at the scene, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

It’s thought that six persons are still entangled in the wreckage.

The update was given in a statement by Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General of LASEMA, and Permanent Secretary (PS), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.

It reads: “Situation report on the collapsed building at Oba Idowu Oniru Street beside Ave Maria Hospital.

“The agency responded to a distress call at the above mentioned location and activated its response plan. Upon arrival at the scene, an uncompleted seven-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed.

“Six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure. Two bodies have been located and recovered thus far. Operation ongoing.

It was not immediately clear the cause of the collapse but emergency workers and security operatives moved to the site to possibly rescue the trapped victims.

Oke-Osanyintolu and Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye assured that search and rescue operations were underway.
