The social media was awashed with the lists of the newly constituted chairmen and board members by the Nigerian federal government but one thing that stood out like a sour thumb was the inclusion of a dead senator as a chairman.
In the list, late Senator Francis Okpozo, who died in 2016, was made the chairman of Nigerian Press Council!
It was suspected that the list may have been compiled before the man died but nobody seemed to follow up with verification when the lists were finally approved.
President Muhammadu Buhari had promised to make the appointments during the party’s first major meeting a few weeks ago, since it took power in 2015 amid grumblings from leaders who were yet to be compensated for defeating the then incumbent party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
