The suspects, Ndifon Nelly Ekpu, 45, Obi Mary Baken, 38, and W/Sgt. Aisha Yakubu of the Nigerian Army, were apprehended following an alarm raised by the infant’s mother, 19-year-old Justina Valentine Boniface.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Boniface delivered a baby boy on August 12, 2025, at the Primary Health Centre in Aningeje.

She claimed that while resting after childbirth, the nurses conspired to remove her newborn and falsely informed her that the baby had died and was buried within the facility.

Police investigations later revealed that the baby had been sold to Yakubu, who has since confessed along with the other suspects.

Authorities are actively working to apprehend the final buyer and ensure the child’s safe recovery.
