The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan on Wednesday adjourned indefinitely a case involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its controversial elective convention held in the Oyo State capital.
The appellate court also granted the parties permission to explore an amicable resolution outside the courtroom. It noted that if the parties fail to reach a settlement, they are at liberty to return to the court to continue with the proceedings.
During the sitting, the justices urged counsel representing the parties to provide proper guidance to their clients in order to facilitate a peaceful settlement of the dispute.

The panel further advised lawyers to be mindful of time, particularly in light of the recently released electoral timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The development follows an earlier ruling by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, which invalidated the PDP elective convention held in Ibadan that produced Kabiru Turaki (SAN) as the party’s National Chairman.

The latest move by the court is expected to give the warring factions within the PDP an opportunity to resolve their differences and avert further legal battles ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
