The invitation, issued by Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad, follows a formal petition submitted by Governor Sani through the state Ministry of Justice. Senator Usman is expected to appear at the command headquarters on Monday, September 1, to respond to the charges.

Governor Sani accused the lawmaker of making injurious statements that could incite unrest and threaten the state’s peace and security.
The letter of invitation stated: “Re-threat to life, false and injurious allegations against His Excellency Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

You are kindly requested to appear in person to the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command on Monday, 1st September to respond to the said allegations. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.”
This latest development adds a dramatic twist to the ongoing political tension between the governor and the senator.
Earlier this month, Senator Usman petitioned the International Criminal Court in The Hague, accusing Governor Sani of political persecution during the August 16 by-elections.
In the ICC petition, filed on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Usman alleged that security agencies, including the police, DSS, and EFCC, were deployed to suppress opposition figures and seize party funds.
Over 25 PDP stakeholders were reportedly detained, while ₦26 million meant for election logistics was confiscated.
The senator described the actions as deliberate political persecution and urged the ICC to investigate the governor’s conduct.
