President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly summoned his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, after the duo clash at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Recall that both officers in a video made public by channels TV appeared to be engaged a heated argument, as Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo listens to the two sides.
The discussion is believed to be about Oyo-Ita’s memo to Kyari on the embattled former pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina. The memo is believed to have been leaked.
In the memo, Oyo-Ita had claimed that her warning was based on the implications Maina’s reinstatement would have on the anti-corruption war of the Federal Government.
The memo, with reference number HSCSF/HCSF/LU/COR/FCSC/750/T, was dated October 23, 2017.
The memo, titled, ‘Re: Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina,’ was received in the office of the Chief of Staff to the President on October 23.
The President had directed the HoS to investigate the circumstances that surrounded the return of Maina to the civil service.
A presidency source quoted in the report said; “The President was embarrassed when he learnt about the altercation between the two officials. He, therefore, asked the two officials to see him after the FEC meeting. It was a gory sight, seeing the two officials almost fighting at the Council Chambers.
