Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved the release of N872 million as the state’s counterpart funding for its primary healthcare sector.

He made this announcement on Tuesday during a meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare and an award presentation held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi.

Represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, the governor stated that N261,708,491.00 has already been released to the Bauchi Primary Healthcare (PHC) Board.
This release underscores the state government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare services, improving health infrastructure, and supporting frontline workers.

The goal is to ensure that all citizens, regardless of their location or status, receive the necessary healthcare services.
Governor Mohammed expressed his appreciation to the healthcare workers, local government health teams, facility managers, and community volunteers for their dedication and hard work in improving healthcare delivery in the state. He emphasized that their dedication is crucial to the progress in primary healthcare.
He also stated that the awards presented were a token of appreciation to the recipients, and reassured that the government will continue to implement programs and investments that enhance the health and well-being of citizens in both rural and urban areas, with a focus on women and children.
Governor Mohammed reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing the necessary funding to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the state.
He also acknowledged the technical and financial contributions of development partners, and called for renewed commitment to building a healthier Bauchi State.
The Co-Chair of the State Task Force Committee on Primary Healthcare and Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu, expressed gratitude for the progress made in implementing health programs in the state.
