Odeh joins NNPCL after a distinguished 26-year career at Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), where he rose to become General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development.

His move, described by many as unexpected, is being seen as a strategic step to strengthen transparency, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management at the state oil giant.

The appointment comes amid leadership changes at NNPCL under Group Managing Director/CEO Bayo Ojulari, whose mandate includes driving corporate governance reforms, financial discipline, and improved communication.

Analysts believe Odeh’s experience at NLNG—an internationally respected energy player—could help reposition NNPCL toward global best practices.

Observers point to key priorities for the new communications chief: boosting transparency, implementing a real-time accountability dashboard, managing crises, strengthening digital engagement, and building stronger ties with host communities, media, and labour unions.

Odeh is also expected to lead public relations campaigns that showcase NNPCL’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy and its gradual diversification into petrochemicals and renewables.

His former colleagues describe him as a trailblazer with integrity and vision.

Yemi Adeyemi, NLNG’s Community Relations & Sustainable Development Manager, praised him as “a mentor, leader, and brother” who will bring creativity, strategic engagement, and meaningful storytelling to his new role.

Odeh’s career, which began in advertising before he joined NLNG in 1998, is marked by achievements in sustainability communications, stakeholder relations, and corporate reputation building. Many industry voices view his arrival at NNPCL as a powerful signal of change.

As NNPCL navigates reforms under the Petroleum Industry Act, Odeh’s ability to build trust and communicate boldly will be central to reshaping its public image.
