Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has been declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke was formally declared winner in the early hours of Sunday at the state collation centre in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), announced the final result at about 7:49am after supervising the collation of results from all 30 local government areas of the state.
According to the final result recorded on Form EC8E, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished a distant third with 17,180 votes.
INEC said Osun State had 2,339,544 registered voters, while 1,010,684 voters were accredited. The election recorded 985,079 valid votes.
Adeleke won in 19 of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji carried 11 LGAs.
The governor secured victories in Boluwaduro, Ede South, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Orolu, Osogbo, Oriade, Odo-Otin, Ife East, Ifelodun, Iwo, Ede North, Ila, Aiyedire, Egbedore, Aiyedaade and Ejigbo.
The APC candidate won Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakunmosa West, Irewole, Atakunmosa East, Isokan, Ola Oluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
The results showed Adeleke’s strongest margins came from Ede North, where he polled 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,283, and Osogbo, where he secured 36,480 votes to the APC candidate’s 30,474.
In Ede South, Adeleke recorded 26,188 votes against 6,219 for Oyebamiji, while in Ife East, he polled 27,201 votes compared with the APC candidate’s 18,600.
Oyebamiji, however, recorded notable victories in Irewole, where he secured 29,972 votes against Adeleke’s 10,934, as well as Boripe, with 19,963 votes to Adeleke’s 12,448.
With the final results now declared, Adeleke has secured another mandate to govern Osun State after defeating the APC and other challengers in the closely watched governorship contest.
