‘The Struggle Continues’: Kwara G15 Rejects Alleged Intimidation, Rallies APC Members

The Kwara G15 Movement has reaffirmed its commitment to resisting what it described as the imposition of unpopular political arrangements within the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of abandoning the democratic ideals that brought the party to power in the state.

In a statement jointly signed by its leaders on Sunday, the group thanked members, supporters and stakeholders across Kwara State for their continued loyalty and commitment to what it described as a struggle for fairness, inclusiveness and genuine consultation within the ruling party.

The movement alleged that some of its members had been subjected to intimidation, blackmail and attempts at inducement through financial offers and political appointments in a bid to weaken the group’s resolve.

According to the G15, such actions have only strengthened its determination, insisting that the alleged pressure tactics reflect growing desperation and isolation within the governor’s political camp.

The group maintained that its movement was founded on the principles of consultation, internal democracy and respect for party members, stressing that leadership should emerge through fairness and the freely expressed will of the people rather than imposition.

It urged its members not to be discouraged by the challenges, assuring them that the leadership would continue to pursue lawful and democratic means to oppose what it described as an “undemocratic and grossly unwanted arrangement” allegedly being promoted by Governor AbdulRazaq.

The G15 also pledged to ensure that the voices of ordinary APC members remain central to decision-making, insisting that no individual or group should override the collective aspirations of party members.

Reflecting on the 2019 Otó gẹ́ Movement, which ended the long-standing political dominance in Kwara State, the group argued that the ideals of that movement had been betrayed by Governor AbdulRazaq, whom it described as its greatest beneficiary.

However, it maintained that the Otó gẹ́ spirit remains alive and has been revitalised to challenge what it called an unpopular political project ahead of future elections.

The movement called on its supporters to remain peaceful, disciplined and organised while strengthening party structures across wards, local government areas and senatorial districts.

The statement was signed by prominent members of the movement, including former APC Chairman in Kwara State, Bashir Bolarinwa; Senators Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, Yisa Ashiru, Suleiman Sadiq Umar and Saliu Mustapha; Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mohammed Dele Belgore; Ambassador Abdulfatahi Yahaya Seriki Gambari, alongside several other political leaders in the state.
