Wema Bank has been named Nigeria’s Best Digital Bank for Consumers 2026 by Euromoney, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s leading technology-driven financial institutions.

The prestigious recognition highlights the bank’s continued commitment to digital innovation, customer-focused banking and financial inclusion, while acknowledging the impact of ALAT, Africa’s first fully digital bank, in reshaping banking services across Nigeria.

According to Euromoney, its annual Awards for Excellence honour financial institutions that are redefining banking through innovation, measurable impact and exceptional customer value. Wema Bank secured the 2026 award for its successful digital transformation and its ability to provide faster, smarter and more accessible banking solutions.

Reacting to the recognition, Wema Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, described the award as a testament to the bank’s sustained investment in digital banking.

He said the recognition validates the institution’s long-term strategy of building a customer-centric digital bank that delivers banking solutions that are easier, faster, safer and more rewarding.

Oseni added that Wema Bank remains committed to expanding the capabilities of ALAT while anticipating customers’ evolving needs and driving the future of digital banking in Nigeria.

A key milestone in the bank’s transformation journey is the upgraded ALAT platform, which now offers advanced features such as voice banking, tap-to-pay services, personalised financial solutions and integrated investment opportunities through strategic partnerships.

The platform also features faster digital account onboarding, artificial intelligence-powered fraud monitoring, intelligent customer personalisation and an expanding agency banking network designed to promote financial inclusion across the country.

Euromoney also praised Wema Bank for leveraging technology and data-driven insights to strengthen customer relationships by offering tailored savings, investment and credit solutions based on users’ financial behaviour.

With more than 80 years of operations, Wema Bank continues to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s financial services sector through innovation, technology and customer-focused banking.

The latest Euromoney recognition further underscores the bank’s commitment to delivering secure, seamless and inclusive financial services while driving the future of digital banking in Nigeria.
