Prince Olalekan Adewoye has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Kwara South, defeating 10 other aspirants in a decisive contest.
According to results from the seven local government areas in the district, Adewoye secured a commanding 65,256 votes, far ahead of his closest rival, Faridah Dankaka, who garnered 24,277 votes. Incumbent Senator Lola Ashiru trailed in third place with 21,001 votes.

The APC conducted primary elections for all three senatorial districts in Kwara State on Tuesday, May 18, 2026, with 11 aspirants vying for the Kwara South ticket.
A breakdown of the results showed that Adewoye achieved his highest tally in Isin Local Government Area with 11,922 votes, while his lowest came from Irepodun Local Government Area, where he scored 6,725 votes.

Other notable results included Nurudeen Adeyemi in fourth place with 13,654 votes, Olabode Odetunde with 6,157 votes, and Alabaja Kazeem who secured 1,699 votes. Remaining aspirants—Gbenga Makanjuola, Shola Ajimoti, Olutola Onijala, Olatunde Samuel, and Adeleke Gbenga—recorded lower vote counts.
The APC national secretariat is expected to officially announce the primary election results in the coming days.
