The African Democratic Congress has confirmed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has completed payment for the party’s presidential nomination form ahead of the 2027 general election.
The confirmation was made in an official statement shared on the party’s X account on Saturday, accompanied by a copy of the payment receipt.
The receipt, identified as Official Receipt No. 2881, showed that a payment of ₦90 million was made through a bank draft for the ADC presidential nomination form. The document was dated Friday, May 8, 2026.

Announcing the development, the party stated, “A new chapter in Nigeria’s democratic journey. H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election.”
The ADC described the move as a significant step in what it termed a growing political movement focused on national renewal and democratic participation.

According to the party, the development reflects increasing momentum within its ranks as it positions itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
“This development marks another significant moment in the growing movement for national renewal, democratic inclusion, and people-driven leadership within the ADC,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its campaign message, the party said it remains committed to promoting unity, competence, economic recovery, improved security, and national development.
The ADC also disclosed that the formal presentation of nomination forms is scheduled to take place on Monday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
“The movement is growing. Hope is rising. Expect more,” the party concluded.
Although the ADC has yet to provide further details regarding internal arrangements or coalition discussions, the confirmation of Atiku’s payment marks an early development in the unfolding 2027 presidential race as political parties begin preparations ahead of the elections.
More updates are expected following Monday’s presentation ceremony in Abuja.
