Zamfara State’s All-Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders have officially backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal for re-election in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The momentous endorsement took place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, during a significant high-level meeting held at the Government House in Gusau, which saw the participation of all four former governors of the state, elected officials, and representatives from all 14 local government areas.
Governor Lawal, speaking at the gathering, emphasized the timely nature of the meeting, given the growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 elections. He reinforced that his decision to join the APC was a strategic one, designed to bolster Zamfara’s development, enhance collaboration with the federal government, and further the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Lawal also expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout his administration’s transition.
The governor called on party leaders to manage public expectations with patience, stressing that leadership is about service to the people, rather than mere political positioning. He committed to upholding fairness, equity, and justice in his administration, urging discipline and loyalty within the party ranks.

A formal communiqué, delivered by Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Bello Matawalle, highlighted the unanimous endorsement of Tinubu and Lawal, reaffirming the stakeholders’ commitment to the APC and the 2027 elections. The document also touched on key issues including party unity, governance coordination, and addressing security challenges.
The four former governors of Zamfara—Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Abdul’aziz Yari, and Bello Mohammed Matawalle—also reaffirmed their support for the party’s leadership and the re-election bids of President Tinubu and Governor Lawal.

As political campaigns for the 2027 elections heat up, this endorsement strengthens APC unity in Zamfara and signals a unified front as the party prepares for the challenges ahead.
