Eid-el-Fitr 2026: Ajibola Basiru Urges Nigerians to Unite Against Insecurity, Sustain Ramadan Virtues

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity and shared responsibility in tackling insecurity and other national challenges, as Muslims mark the end of Ramadan.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message for 2026, Basiru called on Muslim faithful to use the festive period to pray for peace, stability, and national cohesion, stressing that collective effort is key to overcoming Nigeria’s difficulties.

He expressed gratitude to Allah for the privilege of witnessing and completing the holy month of Ramadan, while reminding Muslims that acts of worship should not end with the fasting period.

According to him, true Islamic devotion extends beyond the 30 days of fasting, urging adherents to maintain righteous conduct, continuous remembrance of Allah, and regular charity even after Ramadan. He noted that while rituals such as Zakatul-Fitr and I’tikaf are seasonal, spiritual practices like daily charity and night prayers should remain consistent.

Basiru also called on Nigerians across political divides to put national interest above partisan considerations, warning against politicising issues that directly affect citizens’ welfare. He stressed the need for unity in confronting threats posed by banditry and terrorism.

“As members of both the ruling party and the opposition, we owe this nation loyalty and prayers. It should not be in our interest for the country to be held hostage by criminal elements. We must work together to restore order,” he said.

The APC chieftain further urged continued support and prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the administration’s economic and fiscal reforms have begun to gain positive recognition from international financial institutions and improve Nigeria’s global image.

He concluded by praying for the acceptance of the Ramadan fast as an act of worship and wished Muslims a peaceful and fulfilling Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
