The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 19 suspected drug dealers and dismantled multiple drug joints in Gezawa community, located in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The agency said the operation, part of its ongoing “Operation Ramadan Mubarak,” was carried out to safeguard public health and ensure a peaceful observance of the holy month.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Maigatari, said the raid was executed under the leadership of CN DY Lawal following credible intelligence from a concerned resident.

“Acting swiftly on reliable information, our operatives dislodged criminal elements operating in the area. Our objective is clear — to keep our streets safe and allow residents to observe a peaceful and satisfactory Ramadan,” the statement read.
Items recovered during the operation include cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, a street drug popularly known as “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, pregabalin tablets, and other controlled substances.

All exhibits are now in NDLEA custody as investigations continue.
Lawal stressed that the command would not relent in its crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse, especially during the sacred period.
The operation aligns with the directive of the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa
