Tinubu Celebrates Aisha Buhari at 55, Hails Her as ‘Courageous and Principled Amazon’

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, on her 55th birthday, describing her as a courageous and principled woman who has consistently stood firm in her convictions.

In a personally signed message dated February 23, 2026, the President joined family members and friends in celebrating the milestone, noting that 55 marks a significant moment in her life.

“I join the family and friends of Hajiya Aisha Buhari to congratulate her on her 55th birthday. Fifty-five is a significant milestone, and I celebrate with the former First Lady on this occasion,” Tinubu stated.

The President extolled her strength of character and independence of mind, portraying her as a steadfast figure in Nigeria’s public space.

“Hajiya Buhari is an Amazon, a courageous and principled woman. She is not afraid to stand alone on matters bordering on her values and ideals. She is as ever certain as the North Star; a woman for all seasons,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted her humanitarian and advocacy efforts, particularly through the Aisha Buhari Foundation, which he said has championed the rights of women and children while providing support to vulnerable families across the country.

“Through her foundation, she has upheld the rights of women and children and provided succour to many families,” the President noted, describing her as “a voice for the unheard and the forgotten.”

He commended her dedication to promoting family values and protecting human dignity, expressing gratitude for her contributions to national development during and after her tenure as First Lady from 2015 to 2023.

“I thank Hajiya Buhari for her contributions to our nation. And I commend her resilience and discipline,” Tinubu added.

The President concluded with prayers for her continued well-being and that of her family.

“I wish her a happy 55th birthday, and I pray that God Almighty continue to keep her and her family in good health.”
