Popular skitmaker and content creator, Isaac Aloma, widely known as Zicsaloma, has stressed the importance of setting strict financial boundaries as a key step toward achieving financial independence.
In a recent video shared online, Zicsaloma revealed that his financial growth was once hindered by what he described as an entitled attitude from members of his family.
According to him, many African families often feel entitled to the wealth of their relatives, a situation he said makes it difficult for individuals to save, invest and plan for the future.

Zicsaloma advised people to prioritise financial responsibility, even if it means being perceived as “selfish” or “heartless” by friends and loved ones.
“I did a lot of business while growing up, but most of them failed because of family,” he said.

“The African family—and even your own family—are very entitled to your wealth, even when the purpose of working is to save money and build a better future.”
The skitmaker argued that setting firm financial boundaries is necessary to break cycles of dependency and achieve long-term financial goals.
“It is very okay to be financially heartless, even to your friends and family, so that you can save up and break that circle,” he added.
“They will hate you for it, but trust me, it is for your own good.”
Zicsaloma’s comments have sparked conversations online, with many social media users sharing similar experiences and debating the balance between family support and financial independence.
