APC Governors Demand Transparency Ahead of Party Congresses, National Convention

The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has called for transparency, accountability and coordination in the conduct of upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses and the party’s forthcoming national convention.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, made the call while presenting a communiqué after a meeting between APC governors and party leadership in Abuja on Wednesday.

Uzodimma stressed that transparency, consistency and accountability must guide every stage of the processes to build trust and credibility within the party.

“These standards must apply uniformly across all states, including where the party currently has no governors,” he said, reaffirming the Forum’s commitment to party unity and internal harmony.

He noted that responsible leadership, effective communication and collective discipline remain crucial to strengthening public confidence in the party’s democratic processes.

The governor also reaffirmed the Forum’s support for deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures and promoting reforms aimed at transparency, accountability and inclusiveness across the country.

According to him, the governors received a briefing from the APC National Chairman on progress made with the party’s national e-registration and digital membership update.

Uzodimma said the initiative had recorded significant membership growth, improved youth participation and integrated the National Identity Number system.

He added that the digital membership drive would enhance data-driven planning, improve demographic insights and strengthen grassroots mobilisation nationwide.

The governors also endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for the forthcoming congresses and national convention.

Uzodimma commended the APC leadership under National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for steering the preparations.

He further disclosed plans for strategic engagements and state visits aimed at reinforcing grassroots structures and strengthening party cohesion, with visits scheduled to commence in Taraba on January 31.

The Forum also formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau states into its fold.

Uzodimma reaffirmed the governors’ resolve to continue working with APC leadership to advance national development, democratic consolidation and people-centred governance.

He added that the governors also expressed appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, pledging continued collaboration to ensure good governance at all leveling
