A Nigerian caregiver, Oghenemaro Dave Ejerua, has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of alleged assaults at a group home for vulnerable adults in East Toronto, Toronto police have confirmed.
The 38-year-old, who was employed at the care facility, was taken into custody last week following an investigation into multiple reported incidents involving residents of the home.

According to police, the alleged assaults occurred over a one-month period between November 1 and November 30, 2025. During that time, residents of the group home were reportedly assaulted on several occasions.
Officers were first alerted to the situation on the morning of December 10, 2025, after responding to a call in the area of Sibley and Dentonia Park avenues in East Toronto. The initial response prompted a broader investigation into the matter.

As part of the probe, Toronto police issued a public appeal seeking assistance in identifying and locating a suspect connected to the alleged incidents.
In a news release issued on Monday afternoon, January 12, police announced that Ejerua had been arrested and formally charged with seven counts of assault.
- The accused is expected to appear in court at a later date. Police emphasized that the allegations have not yet been tested in court and that Ejerua is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
