Graham Greene, Oscar-nominated actor in Dances With Wolves, dies at age 73 of natural causes, his manager confirms
Graham Greene, the Oscar-nominated Canadian actor known for his powerful role in Dances with Wolves, has passed away peacefully at the age of 73.

His manager, Gerry Jordan, confirmed the sad news on Monday in a statement to CBC News, stating that the legendary actor died of natural causes.

“It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of award-winning legendary Canadian actor Graham Greene,” the statement read.
Graham Greene, of Oneida heritage, was a celebrated figure in both Hollywood and Indigenous communities, known for portraying deeply human, dignified, and complex Native characters.

He earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Kicking Bird in Kevin Costner’s 1990 epic Dances With Wolves, a performance that became a cultural touchstone and helped redefine Indigenous representation in film.
His storied career spanned decades of theatre, film, and television, with appearances in major productions such as The Green Mile, Thunder heart, Wind River, Longmire, and Molly’s Game. Greene was also widely respected for his work on stage and in Canadian cinema.
