NNPP Katsina defection denial: The party says no LG chairmen left for ADC, clarifying defectors were already in APC after leaving NNPP in 2023
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has denied claims that all 34 of its local government chairpersons in Katsina State defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, issued a statement on Monday refuting the reports that circulated in some media outlets and across social media platforms.

He clarified that those alleged to have defected were not members of the NNPP at the time of the move.
“It is on record, however, that some of our chairmen, after the 2023 presidential elections, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Abdulkadir said.

He further explained that these individuals had already left NNPP before joining ADC. “Therefore, their defection was from APC, not from NNPP,” he added.

The NNPP maintains that no serving local government chairman in Katsina has left the party, despite claims suggesting otherwise.
