In a statement released on Monday, June 23, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, the command identified the suspect as Aminu Umar, a resident of the Gidan Igwai area in Sokoto.

Umar was arrested at about 7:00 a.m. on June 20 along Ummaruma Achida while in possession of two rolls of aluminium conductor wires stolen from the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.
“The suspect was arrested in possession of two rolls of the stolen aluminium wires,” DSP Rufai stated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he confessed to receiving the sum of ₦5,000 from one Usman Yahaya of Makera Asada to supply the stolen items.
