Nigerian Air Force 2024 flight operations

The Nigerian Air Force records 20,000 flight hours in 2024, marking progress in insurgency combat, operational efficiency, and self-reliance.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded nearly 20,000 flight hours in its operations during 2024, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to protecting the nation’s interests.

This achievement was disclosed by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, in his goodwill message to officers and airmen during the Christmas celebrations.

Abubakar highlighted the NAF’s role in combating insurgency, banditry, and other threats to Nigeria’s security and economy, stating that the flight hours underscore the dedication of the force.

“Your commitment and professionalism have been instrumental in ensuring the security and stability of our beloved country,” he said, addressing NAF personnel.

The year 2024 presented significant challenges across various theatres of operation, but the CAS praised the resilience, determination, and valour of the officers and airmen, which he said contributed to notable operational successes.

In addition to its robust flight operations, the NAF achieved considerable advancements in aircraft serviceability rates, reflecting improvements in maintenance and operational readiness.

Air Marshal Abubakar noted that personnel training initiatives had also produced impressive outcomes, building internal expertise and reducing dependence on foreign support.

“The emphasis on self-reliance strengthens our force and ensures we continue to meet our operational demands independently,” Abubakar remarked, underlining the strategic importance of domestic capacity development.

The CAS encouraged NAF personnel to maintain the spirit of teamwork and interagency cooperation, which he said is essential for addressing modern security challenges.

“Modern warfare demands united efforts. Together, we can achieve enduring peace and security for our nation,” he added.

Abubakar expressed optimism about the future, emphasising that the NAF would continue to grow stronger, more resilient, and capable in its mission to protect Nigeria.

The CAS’s message reflects a broader effort to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication of NAF personnel while reaffirming the force’s commitment to safeguarding national security and fostering progress through strategic development and collaboration.
