The 2025 Appropriation Bill, presented by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly, reveals significant funding allocations for various ministries, highlighting a focus on national security, infrastructure, and public services.
N The Ministry of Finance tops the list with a massive N17.52 trillion allocation, a nearly 88% increase from the previous year, primarily earmarked for salary payments.
Other key ministries saw considerable increases, including the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, which received N6.78 trillion, up 52.35%, and the Ministry of Defence, with an allocation of N2.92 trillion, reflecting an 84.81% rise.
The Ministry of Power experienced a staggering 510.46% boost to N2.1 trillion, while the Ministry of Works was allocated N1.14 trillion, up from N657.23 billion in 2024.
The Ministries of Niger Delta, Education, and Health also received significant allocations—N2.23 trillion, N2.52 trillion, and N1.91 trillion, respectively.
The Senate and House of Representatives passed the N49.7 trillion budget, which includes a revenue projection of N34.82 trillion to cover the N47.9 trillion in proposed expenditures, with a deficit of N13 trillion. The budget will now be reviewed by the Committee on Appropriations for further examination.
