Abia PDP debt claims N90bn payments

Abia PDP has refuted claims by Governor Alex Otti regarding the N191.2bn inherited debt, demanding transparency over the N90bn paid to contractors within 15 months.

The **Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)** in **Abia State** has responded to claims made by Governor **Alex Otti** regarding the state’s inherited debt.

Governor Otti disclosed on **Thursday** that his administration had successfully cleared **N90 billion** of the **N191.2 billion debt** inherited from previous governments in just **15 months**, without taking on any new loans.

Abraham Amah, the Abia PDP Chairman, rejected the assertion that the **PDP-led administrations** in the state left behind any debt. He stressed that the party was unaware of such obligations, calling for proof of the claims made by the governor.

“The Abia PDP is unaware of the existence of such a debt incurred by the immediate past PDP administration,” Amah said. “It will serve the interests of Abians if you put out the records as proof of your claims.”

The PDP further raised concerns about the **N90 billion** paid to contractors by Governor Otti’s administration, calling for an immediate investigation into the payments.

“This staggering amount warrants immediate scrutiny,” Amah stated, urging Governor Otti to clarify the basis for the figure and the payments.

The **PDP** has called for transparency in financial dealings, stating that without clear communication, public trust in leadership could be compromised.
