A Federal High Court in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has restrained the All Progressives Congress (APC) from submitting the list of its candidates from the state to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2019 general polls, Channels reports.

Justice Toyin Adegoke, the presiding judge, ordered Adams Oshiomhole, APC’s national chairman, who was also mentioned in the suit as the second respondent as well as the plaintiff to refrain from submitting any list of candidates from the two factions of the party in the state to INEC till the substantive suit filed is heard.

The Cyril Ogodo-led faction of the party in Delta had approached the court seeking an interlocutory injunction restraining APC, Adams Oshiomhole from submitting the list of candidates from the Jones Erue faction of the party to INEC.

In his ruling, Justice Adegoke stated that given that pre-election issues require accelerated hearings, “this matter shall be given an accelerated hearing. Parties shall maintain status quo as at today, the 17th day of November 2018. That is the order of this court.”

Meanwhile, we reported that more trouble looms for the APC over the party’s controversial primaries as four senatorial aspirants of Delta south accused the party leadership of illegally excluding them from the primary election.

The aspirants, Temisan Omatseye, Chief Michael Johnny, Evans Omatsoguwa, and AVM Omatsola Okorodudu (retd), in a statement, on Monday, October 8, described the Delta south senatorial primaries as a sham, noting that they paid the sum of N7 million for nomination forms.
