First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Wednesday appealed to voters in Nigeria’s South-East to support the re-election of her husband, President Bola Tinubu, in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during an official visit focused on women’s empowerment, Mrs Tinubu said she and the President remain committed to national development so that she can “enjoy a better Nigeria” in her old age.
In a mix of English and Pidgin, she urged the people: “Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better. I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age.”
The First Lady explained that the empowerment initiative is being implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Upon completion, the programme is expected to benefit 18,500 women across the country.
In the South-East alone, 500 women from each of the five states will receive business-support items, including generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens.
The visit combined direct political outreach with tangible economic support for women entrepreneurs, underscoring the administration’s dual focus on governance and grassroots impact ahead of the next electoral cycle.
