The closed-door meeting, held on Wednesday, brought together governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, described the meeting as a strategy session to align party priorities at all levels of government.
“This was a convivial discussion with Mr. President to prepare for tomorrow’s NEC meeting and share ideas on reinforcing our party to better serve Nigerians,” he said.

Asked about the likely outcomes of Thursday’s NEC, he added, “We can’t predict anything until we get there tomorrow.”
The NEC meeting is expected to address key internal matters, most notably the appointment of a new national chairman.
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje resigned in June 2025, reportedly due to health concerns. Abubakar Dalori is currently serving as acting chairman.
