John Alfred Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man at 112, has passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, music, and love in Southport, England.
Guinness World Records has announced the passing of the world’s oldest man, John Alfred Tinniswood, at the age of 112.
He died peacefully on Monday, 25 November 2024, at the Hollies Care Home in Southport, England, surrounded by music and love, according to a statement released by his family.

Born on 26 August 1912 to Ada and John Bernard Tinniswood, John lived through more than a century of monumental global changes.
A lifelong Liverpool FC supporter, he gained international recognition in April 2024 when Guinness World Records officially named him the world’s oldest man, succeeding the late Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, who died at 114.
John’s family expressed their gratitude for the support he received over the years. “John always liked to say thank you.
So, on his behalf, thank you to all those who cared for him, including his carers at Hollies Care Home, GPs, district nurses, occupational therapists, and NHS staff. John’s life was one surrounded by love,” the family’s statement read.
John was married to his late wife, Blodwen, with whom he had a daughter, Susan. He is survived by his daughter, grandchildren Annouchka, Marisa, Toby, and Rupert, and great-grandchildren Tabitha, Callum, and Nieve.
His remarkable life spanned two world wars, the evolution of modern technology, and countless historical milestones. John’s legacy, marked by resilience and gratitude, continues to inspire those who knew him.
