The digital tool, available at fiscalreforms.ng, allows users to compare their current tax payments with what they will owe once the reforms begin.

It is designed to highlight how the system shields low-income earners, simplifies compliance, and boosts transparency.
President Bola Tinubu, announcing the initiative on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, described it as a step toward fairness and trust in governance.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable.
With the new tax laws I recently signed, taking effect from January 2026, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy,” he said.
Explaining the calculator’s importance, Tinubu added: “It allows you to check your estimated tax under the new laws against what you currently pay.
It shows clearly how these reforms protect low-income earners, ensures progressivity, and simplifies compliance in order to deliver a transparent system that works for all.”
The launch is part of the administration’s wider tax reform agenda, aimed at boosting government revenue without stifling economic growth or overburdening ordinary Nigerians.
Tinubu urged citizens to engage with the reforms and expressed optimism about their long-term benefits: “Together, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams.
Take a bet on our country. Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family, and your community.”
