President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the death of prominent Kano-based businessman and trading community leader, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, describing the loss as a major blow not only to Kano State but to Nigeria’s commercial sector at large.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President said the passing of Abdulaziz deprived the nation of a respected and influential voice in commerce whose impact cut across several trade associations.

The late business mogul, who died over the weekend in Kano, was the National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and held key positions in other commerce-related unions, where he championed the interests of traders nationwide.
President Tinubu also acknowledged the support he received from the deceased during the 2023 presidential election campaigns, noting that Abdulaziz consistently promoted national unity and patriotism through the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), an organisation he founded.

The President extended his condolences to the Kano business community, the government and people of Kano State, as well as the family of the late Abdulaziz, praying for comfort and strength for all those mourning his loss.
In a related development, President Tinubu strongly condemned the brutal murder of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in the Chiranci community of Kano State, describing the incident as barbaric, tragic and unacceptable.
He commended the Nigeria Police Force for the swift arrest of the principal suspects and directed that investigations be concluded without delay, with those responsible diligently prosecuted.
The President also condoled with the bereaved family, assuring them that justice would be pursued to its logical conclusion.
