Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has presented an appointment letter to prominent businessman and nightlife entrepreneur, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, naming him the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.

The development was confirmed by SOCIETYGIST, which reported that the political movement is positioning itself ahead of President Tinubu’s expected re-election bid in 2027.
The appointment of Obi Cubana, a well-known figure in the South-East business and entertainment scene, has triggered widespread reactions on social media, with several Nigerians criticising the move.
Some netizens accused the billionaire businessman of being insensitive to the economic hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians, particularly amid rising living costs and economic uncertainty.
Reacting to the backlash, Obi Cubana addressed the controversy in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, where he defended his decision to accept the appointment.
According to him, meaningful national change cannot be achieved from the sidelines, insisting that active participation and engagement remain the most effective way to influence governance and policy outcomes.
Despite the criticism, supporters of the appointment argue that Obi Cubana’s influence and grassroots reach in the South-East could play a strategic role in mobilising support for the movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
