The Senate has constituted a 12-member committee to collaborate with the House of Representatives on the proposed Electoral Amendment Act, a bill that has generated widespread public debate in recent weeks.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the committee members on Tuesday during an emergency plenary session of the upper chamber.
Among the notable lawmakers appointed to the committee are Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Tahir Mungono.

The joint committee is expected to harmonise positions on the proposed amendments to the electoral law, as deliberations continue within the National Assembly.
More details are expected to emerge as the legislative process progresses.
