Sanwo Eko Movement (SEM) in conjunction with Arewa community in Lagos on Wednesday organized a rally to drum support for the candidate of APC in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu and his deputy in the race, Dr. Obáfémi Hamzat Kadir.
The rally which held at the national stadium was well attended as the Arewa Community Leaders from all over Lagos turned up to register their support and intent to vote Mr. Sanwoolu in.
Speaking at the occasion, the National Coordinator of SEM, Engr. Funsho Elulade also enjoined all Lagosians to come out enmasse and vote for a greater and better Lagos. Speaking further, he said his group, Sanwo Eko Movement has been at the fore front of mobilizing grassroots support for the candidature of Mr. Sanwo-Olu from the inception of the campaign to occupy Alausa office come May 2019. Engr. Elulade also expressed his profound appreciation to all members of SEM who took their time to attend the rally.
The endorsement was done with fanfare as thousands of the Arewa Support Group comprising of Arewa Council Chiefs, Arewa Community Leaders and Arewa Market Leaders and their followers came in their large numbers with buses into the National Stadium pitch on Wednesday.
The Lagos Gubernatorial candidate, Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Mr Femi Hamzat were at the podium with other dignitaries dancing to the song composed by a Hausa music artiste.
Alhaja Dandanma Muhammadu, Chairman of Arewa Community, Lagos State said the group believes in the party hence the reason they came en-masse to support and endorse the APC Gubernatorial candidate.
Alhaji Haruna Muhammadu, Chairman, Mile 12 Market Association who was represented by Alhaji Shehu Usnan stated that the Arewa group would deliver three million votes to the Lagos APC Gubernatorial candidate on March 16, 2019.
“The Arewa Support Group made up of the Arewa Community has enjoyed a cordial relationship with Lagos State government. We campaigned for Fashola in 2011, we mobilized and campaigned for Governor Ambode and now we are here to render our support and endorse you as the next Governor of Lagos State. Arewa is guarantee trust and we will surely vote for you. We will give you three million votes in Lagos State as our members are being educate on how to vote using the index finger.’’
Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu while expressing his gratitude to the Arewa community stated that he would improve on relationship with the Arewa market leaders and their people, urging the people to vote for presidential candidate of APC.
