RMAFC Commissioner Egharhevwa Denies Oil Wells Deal, Demands Retraction and Apology

Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) representing Delta State, Aruviere Martin Egharhevwa, has strongly denied allegations linking him to a purported plan to cede oil and gas wells belonging to the state, describing the report as false and defamatory.

In a statement dated March 25, 2026, Egharhevwa dismissed the publication as “utter nonsense” and “absolutely false,” insisting that no final decision has been reached by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission regarding the reallocation of disputed oil wells.

The commissioner called for the immediate withdrawal of the publication across all platforms, alongside a “full, clear and unreserved apology” to be given the same prominence as the original report.

He warned that failure to comply would result in legal action to protect his reputation and the integrity of his office.

Citing an earlier clarification by the commission’s chairman, Egharhevwa emphasised that there is no concluded position on the matter.

“There is currently no concluded RMAFC position, no final recommendation, and therefore nothing that any commissioner could possibly ‘sell,’ ‘cede’ or ‘trade off,’” he stated.

He further described the report as a “malicious and grossly incompetent publication,” accusing it of relying on speculation rather than facts.

Egharhevwa criticised the publication as a “vacuous and childish hatchet job,” saying it reflects a broader pattern of poor journalism lacking factual and professional rigour.

Reaffirming his commitment to public service, he stressed that he remains bound by his oath to uphold the Constitution and act in the best interest of the country.

“There is nothing under the sun that will cause me to betray that trust or engage in any dishonest endeavour,” he said.

The commissioner concluded that his legal team has been briefed and is prepared to take necessary action if the publication is not retracted.

He maintained that “truth, process, and the Constitution” remain firmly on his side as the controversy unfolds.
