Popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, have continued their public exchange over allegations of drug addiction levelled against the actress.
On January 7, 2026, Daniels took to Instagram to share an emotional video revealing the outcome of a drug test she said was conducted on January 5, 2026, in the United Kingdom. According to the actress, the test returned negative for hard drugs.

Describing the past few months as one of the most difficult periods of her life, Daniels said she decided to undergo the test to set the record straight and to honour those who continue to believe in her.
“I owe it to those who believe in me,” she said, stressing her commitment to truth and personal integrity.

While firmly denying any involvement with hard drugs, Daniels admitted that she had previously used ecstasy, popularly known as Molly (MDMA). She, however, insisted that she was never addicted.
“I was never on hard drugs. I will definitely sue at the appropriate time. And honestly speaking, the only drug I was associated with was ecstasy, popularly known as Molly. There was a reason for that, which I will never explain,” she stated.
Daniels added that taking the drug test was a personal choice and a gift to her children, so they would always know the truth about their mother.
In a swift response, Senator Nwoko challenged the significance of the test results, arguing that a negative test after a period of abstinence does not amount to proof of sobriety.
In a statement titled “Don’t Be Fooled: Temporary Abstinence Is Not Sobriety,” Nwoko questioned the circumstances under which the UK test was conducted, insisting that earlier findings from two independent and reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa had already established drug and alcohol use.
According to him, those earlier assessments were professionally documented and would be presented and defended in court, with the laboratories involved expected to testify.
“Presenting a later negative result as proof that no prior use occurred is misleading and disingenuous,” Nwoko said. “At best, it reflects abstinence over a period of time. It does not invalidate earlier medical reports, nor does it negate what necessitated intervention in the first place.”
He further stated that all drug tests, regardless of where they are conducted, would be subjected to judicial scrutiny, adding that the court may appoint an independent laboratory to verify all claims.
Nwoko also maintained that before the issue became public, he had made several efforts to assist Daniels, adding that the matter would ultimately be resolved through legal processes.
Meanwhile, Daniels has also been at the centre of online speculation following her appearance with an unidentified man during a New Year’s Eve celebration in London on December 31, 2025. Photos and video clips shared by the actress showed her relaxed and cheerful in the man’s company, sparking rumours of a possible romantic relationship.
The speculation intensified online debates, with some critics issuing harsh commentary, while others defended her right to happiness and personal freedom.
In response, Daniels’ elder brother, Samuel Daniels, popularly known as Sammy West, later shared a group photograph featuring Regina, the man in question and others. He dismissed the rumours in his caption, urging social media users to avoid false narratives.
“This is a new year. Let’s try to be factual this year, okay? No more fabrications and false accusations. 2026. Love and light,” he wrote.
The post appeared to counter claims of a romantic relationship, suggesting the outing was a platonic group gathering rather than evidence of a new affair.
