A kidnapper has been jailed after denying wrongdoing when armed police caught him – with a woman locked in the boot of his car.
Shafak Abbas, 24, was quizzed by gun cops over driving without insurance shortly after he violently kidnapped the 26-year-old woman.

Shafak Abbas was pulled over by cops for driving without insurance but found gun and kidnapped woman in his car
They decided to search his gold Mercedes after Abbas became ‘evasive’ during questioning and found a BB gun in the foot well.
And he then admitted there was a woman in the boot, before police opened it up and found the victim, who Abbas knew, crying and distressed.
But despite the whole encounter being caught on police bodycam Abbas denied the kidnap in court.
He was yesterday (FRI) jailed for 15 months after a jury found him guilty of kidnap following a four-day trial.
Detective Constable Chris Bailey, from the Metropolitan Police, said: “Body Worn Video evidence has greatly assisted us in securing this conviction.
“We will not tolerate violence and will do everything in our power to secure a prosecution and to ensure that justice is done.”
The bodycam footage shown to the jury also captured Abbas’s admission to driving while disqualified and being in possession of a firearm.
He had been quizzed by specialist firearms police after they spotted his stationary vehicle in a residential street in Canary Wharf, east London, shortly after midday on April 18.
He was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, firearms offences, and driving offences and later charged with kidnap, driving whilst disqualified, no insurance and possession of a firearm.
Abbas, of Wickford Street, Bethnal Green, had already been disqualified from driving by Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 10, 2016 until June 9, 2018.
He has now further been disqualified from driving until June 8, 2021.
