Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirms commitment to party unity in Bauchi, as PDP North-East zone pledges to work together for the 2027 general election

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed his commitment and that of other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to uphold the integrity of the party, vowing not to bring shame to its name.

The governor made the statement during the PDP North-East Zonal Caucus meeting held on Thursday in Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed, who also serves as the Chairman of PDP Governors, highlighted the party’s unity in the North-East zone, emphasising that it had been recognised as the least divided zone within the party.

He noted that leaders from the zone had recently met with the members of the reconciliation committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC), reinforcing the region’s commitment to unity and focus.

“The zone is closely knitted together in terms of unity and focus. We bring different projects and programmes that will have a direct bearing on the aspirations of our people.

We are loyal to the zone and loyal to our various chapters, including those chapters that don’t have a governor, and we will continue to do that,” Governor Mohammed asserted.

The PDP North-East zone’s collective spirit of cooperation was also highlighted during the meeting, with the party leaders emphasising that they were working diligently to ensure that the party remains strong and capable of competing in future elections.

The Chairman of the reconciliation committee, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, echoed this sentiment, stating that the party was determined to address its challenges and reposition itself for effective leadership in time for the 2027 general election. He underscored the importance of a united front for the PDP to reclaim political power.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa also weighed in, describing the reconciliation committee’s efforts as timely, given the ongoing challenges the party faces.

He urged all aggrieved members to come to the table, reconcile their differences, and work collectively to revive the party and regain its leadership position in the upcoming elections.

As the PDP looks ahead to the 2027 elections, the unity and commitment displayed by the North-East zone’s leadership and its members reflect the party’s resolve to tackle internal divisions and restore its dominance in Nigerian politics.
