An overturned truck at the Otedola Bridge in the early hours of Friday caused a massive traffic gridlock along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving motorists stranded for hours.

A SOCIETYGIST Online correspondent who travelled along the route observed that the congestion extended from the Otedola Bridge backward to the Berger axis, as commuters heading into Lagos scrambled for alternative routes.
Confirming the incident in a Facebook post, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command revealed that the situation was worsened by a secondary accident that occurred behind the initial crash.

“Two serious accidents have occurred at Otedola Bridge, inward Lagos,” the RRS stated. “In the first incident, a fully loaded truck overturned, spilling its consignments onto the road and covering about 90 per cent of the carriageway. The second accident occurred directly behind the first crash, compounding traffic disruption in the area.”
The police added that emergency responders had been alerted and advised motorists to exercise caution while approaching the affected area.
Also speaking on the development, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed in a telephone interview that traffic officials were already on ground to carry out rescue operations and manage traffic flow.
He assured road users that efforts were ongoing to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic movement as soon as possible.
If you’d like, I can tighten it further for breaking news, make it more dramatic for social media, or adapt it to your house style.
