The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected quack doctor for allegedly operating an illegal clinic in Ore, Ore/Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed on Sunday in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who said the operation was part of intensified efforts to dismantle medical criminal networks across Ondo State.
According to Jimoh, the suspect, identified as Idris Nasiru, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the command’s Surveillance Team.

He said a search of the suspect’s shop led to the recovery of injection needles, medical drips, bandages and other assorted medical kits. Further searches of his residence, conducted with a duly signed search warrant, uncovered used injection bottles, needles and syringes.
Preliminary investigations, Jimoh disclosed, revealed that the suspect was not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being operated illegally.

“The suspect has made useful statements while in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the police spokesperson added.
Jimoh noted that the Commissioner of Police urged residents to provide credible and timely information to support ongoing efforts to curb crime and criminality in the state.
The police also advised members of the public to exercise caution when seeking medical services to avoid falling victim to unqualified and unlicensed practitioners.
He assured residents that the Ondo State Police Command remains committed to eradicating medical-related crimes in all their forms. (NAN)
