The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that falsely portrays her promoting a fraudulent investment scheme.
The lawmaker issued a public warning on Sunday, describing the clip as manipulated content created by fraudsters to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement shared on her official social media platforms, Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the video was edited from a previous interview she granted to television journalist Seun Okinbaloye.

According to her, criminals altered the footage and repurposed it to promote a fake investment platform.
“Although the manipulated clip appears to feature my voice and image, it is entirely fabricated and should not be trusted,” the senator said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan advised Nigerians to disregard the viral video and avoid engaging with any investment opportunity connected to the altered content.
She also urged members of the public to report the page or online platform hosting the video so that it can be taken down to prevent more victims from being deceived.
The senator further warned about the growing threat of cyber fraud and identity manipulation online, noting that criminals increasingly exploit edited videos and artificial intelligence tools to impersonate public figures.
“Please stay vigilant, stay safe, and be guarded against online scams,” she added.
Her caution comes amid a rise in digital scams in which fraudsters manipulate videos of prominent personalities to lend credibility to fraudulent schemes.
