Lalude MC Oluomo betrayal trends after the veteran actor accused the NURTW boss of failing to honour promises made during the Tinubu election campaign
Lalude MC Oluomo betrayal has taken centre stage in Nigeria’s entertainment and political circles after the veteran Nollywood actor publicly accused the transport union leader of breaking campaign promises.

In a viral video posted online, Lalude, widely respected in the Yoruba film industry, expressed deep frustration over unmet expectations following the 2023 general elections.
According to the actor, he and several of his colleagues left their film jobs for nearly two months to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The actor claimed that Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo and president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), had personally promised financial rewards to him and other celebrities who campaigned. These promises, Lalude alleged, were never fulfilled.
“My colleagues and I campaigned for President Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu during the election but we were not given a dime after the campaign,” he said.

He recalled how MC Oluomo gave verbal assurances, especially to him and fellow veteran actor Alapini, promising to reward their sacrifices for the party’s victory.
“MC Oluomo was the one who organized us together for the campaign,” Lalude stated. “He personally told Alapini and I to ask for anything we wanted, and we told him what we wanted but he didn’t fulfil his promise.”
The actor, visibly angered, went as far as placing a curse on whoever might be sitting on the funds meant for them. “My curse will follow those sitting on the money for the rest of their lives,” he declared.
The revelation has triggered widespread debate on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the ethics of campaign endorsements by entertainers and the promises that follow them.
Some critics have called the situation a cautionary tale, warning celebrities to separate political loyalty from personal gain.
Others sympathised with Lalude and argued that if promises were made, they ought to have been honoured regardless of public opinion about campaign rewards.
A fan commented online, “Whether you agree with his political choices or not, a promise is a promise. You can’t ask people to leave their jobs and use them for influence, then abandon them.”
Another wrote, “This is embarrassing for the APC. You can’t treat veterans this way. Lalude has earned his respect.”
The broader context of the controversy lies in the visible involvement of celebrities like Toyin Abraham, Olaiye Igwe, Lege Miami, Seyi Law, and Eniola Badmus in the 2023 APC campaigns.
While some have gone quiet about their political engagements, others continue to receive backlash or support depending on public perception.
MC Oluomo, a known grassroots mobiliser for the APC in Lagos, has not responded to Lalude’s allegations as at the time of this report. The silence from his camp has only intensified calls for accountability.
Political analysts suggest that this may be one of many post-election fallouts as campaign alliances give way to realities of governance and reward.
The situation also puts renewed focus on how political loyalty is negotiated in Nigeria’s creative and informal sectors.
As the video continues to circulate, fans and colleagues of Lalude have begun showing support online, calling for transparency from those who facilitated campaign engagements.

For many observers, the incident sheds light on the transactional nature of political support and the unspoken contracts that often go unfulfilled.
