Speaking at a press conference in Abeokuta on Monday, the party’s Deputy State Chairman, Augustus Olushola, declared that Lawal is not a registered member of the SDP and has no authority to represent the party.

Olushola alleged that Lawal continues to identify with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Ogun State despite the SDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) clarifying there is no merger or coalition between the two parties.
He further accused Lawal of illegally issuing SDP membership cards to ADC members without the approval of the state party structure.

“This is illegal possession of the party cards,” Olushola said, stressing that such actions breach the party’s constitution.
The deputy chairman also claimed Lawal has not paid any membership dues, a prerequisite for joining the party.
“We consider that he is impersonating as a member of our party. He is not qualified or recognized to represent the SDP at any level,” he added.
